About

I’m a graduate student in astronomy at Cornell, where I study galaxies.  I did my undergraduate at Indiana University and still miss Bloomington, especially the basketball.

The title of this blog comes from the fact that I despise shoes and despair of the Ithacan winter ever ending.  I wear shoes when necessary, but I try to define that as loosely as possible.  A sample elevator conversation with the department chair:  “Don’t we pay you enough to afford shoes?”

I like to pretend I’m a climber, but it’s becoming harder and harder to keep that pretense up when my climbing gear goes on trips and I stay at home.  To change soon, I promise.  I also train martial arts – I spent several years with the Hapkido program at IU and am now training Judo at Cornell.
