The day of reckoning

17 10 2007

Has come and gone.  We got the EM midterms back on Tuesday, and I’ve managed to survive half of my first semester.  Unfortunately, that’s not equivalent to doing half of my work for the semester.  I have a feeling the next couple of weeks are going to be “fun.”

I have a table in my room now so that I can work at home, but my bed is a major distraction.  I’ve actually had issues focusing lately which is bad, but it’s time to get over it and work.  I have a take home midterm and two assignments to do this weekend.  But classes don’t make for great blogging…

My terribly exciting weekend was that I went apple picking on Saturday afternoon.  The apple trees were well picked over, but it was still a fun afternoon.  We managed to pick the day where it was partly sunny in the middle of five or so rainy days, so that was good work on our part.

The new solution….

If things didn’t work, the solution used to be use more force – hit it, bang it, kick it, whatever was easiest.  The new solution is to power cycle.  Amazing how it works.  I couldn’t detect the wireless in my apartment last night so I unplugged the router, plugged it back in, and the wireless was back.  And then I continued to catch up on Grey’s Anatomy episodes.

I took my EM midterm Thursday night.  I didn’t finish it, but it’s over and now all I have to worry about is the massive amount of homework and projects I need to do in the next two weeks.  That’s what I get for taking a couple of days off over fall break.  They were totally worth it, though.

When we came back to the office after the EM midterm, some second, third and the lone fourth year grad student were waiting for us with mini bottles of alcohol.  We then went down to a bar in Collegetown that was fun – not too many undergrads and old school video games.  Let’s just say I was happy enough that I was dancing…
